PDEP Accreditation Council (Reply by April 3, 2018)

Health Professions Advisory Board (Competition closes April 8, 2018) – see bottom of page for details

Call for Applications: PDEP Accreditation Council

The Partnership for Dietetics Education and Practice (PDEP) is seeking applications from volunteers wishing to serve on the PDEP Accreditation Council for a three-year term (beginning October 2018, renewable once). We are seeking one Education Sector representative from a post-graduate or integrated practicum program, and one New Graduate representative.

The Accreditation Council consists of 8 members and oversees the accreditation of dietetic education programs at the baccalaureate, graduate and practicum level across Canada, according to policies and procedures developed by PDEP. The Council will approve processes related to program reviews; evaluate the documentation related to site visits and surveyor reports; and determine the accreditation status of approximately 6 education programs per year.

In addition, the Council will monitor the accreditation process as set out in the Accreditation Program Policy Manual (2017) and the Accreditation Standards (2014) and make recommendations for systematic review and updating of these documents to ensure that dietetic education in Canada remains current and future-oriented.

The estimated time commitment required for this committee is 4 to 6 hours per month (about 2 hours for conference call meetings plus to 2 to 4 hours to prepare for each meeting). The work of the Council will be conducted by distance communication means during business hours, normally between 11AM and 2PM (Eastern Time). English is the working language of the Council; however, the Council will benefit from having some members fluent in French.

The PDEP Steering Committee (SC) appoints Accreditation Council members, aiming to ensure that Council composition is diverse (e.g. geography, education models, language proficiency, areas of practice, level of experience). Past and current accreditation surveyors are eligible to apply for the position on the Council.

Please use the application form to express your interest in serving on the Council, and the experience and assets you bring to the role. The application form is available on the PDEP website and can also be accessed by Clicking Here. The application form may be completed in French if desired.

Please email your application to by Tuesday, April 3, 2018.
