Registration Categories
The registration categories fall under the Registered Dietitians and Registered Nutritionists Profession Regulation and are established by the Council of the College of Dietitians of Alberta. Below, you’ll find an overview of each category of registration.
General Register
Requirements for Registration include:
- Baccalaureate degree in foods and nutrition from a program approved by the Council
- Successful completion of a dietetic internship or a practicum from a program approved by the Council
- Successful completion of the registration examination
Temporary Register
Requirements for Registration include:
- Baccalaureate degree in foods and nutrition from a program approved by the Council
- Successful completion of a dietetic internship or a practicum from a program approved by the Council
- Has applied to write the registration examination, or has written the registration examination but has not yet received the results
Courtesy Register
Courtesy registration may apply to an individual registered as a dietitian or nutritionist in good standing in another jurisdiction who requires registration in Alberta on a temporary basis for a specified purpose approved by the Registrar. They must also demonstrate that they are competent to provide the services related to the specified purposes.
